Information reaches cherrycam.live from five places: your browser, your account, your camera, your purchases and the notifications you allow. This page takes them one at a time, then covers who else sees it and what you can ask us to do.

From your browser, on every visit

Opening cherrycam.live sends us the same technical details any website receives. We use them to load the site, connect calls and keep automated traffic out.

Device and connection
Device model, operating system, browser type, device identifiers and mobile network information.
Location
An approximate location worked out from your IP address. A more precise location is only collected if you allow it on your device.
Usage
Pages you open, features you use, how long you stay and the link that brought you here.
Server logs
Your IP address, access times and the system activity your visit caused.

Cookies and browser storage are part of this. They have their own page: the cookie policy.

From your account

You do not fill in a form to start. When you open the match screen, a guest account is created in the background, because calls, messages, blocks and coins all need an account to belong to.

If you sign in with Google, Google passes us your name, email address and profile picture. If you register or edit your profile, we store what you enter: email, username, display name and password, plus anything optional such as a photo, a short bio, a date of birth or a gender.

Your display name, profile photo and public profile can be seen by other users, and public profile pages can appear in search engines. After you change or delete something public, search results may take a while to catch up. Your email address and password are never shown to other users, and your password is stored encrypted.

From your camera and microphone

A call needs your camera and microphone, and your browser asks before either is switched on. Messages you send to other people are stored as part of the service.

On the match screen and during calls, the service can take still images from your own camera and run face detection on them inside your browser. It then sends us the results: how many faces are in the frame, how bright it is, and which match or call it came from. When our settings ask for it, the still image itself is uploaded too. This is controlled from our side and there is no switch for it in the app, which is why it is written down here.

Those frames are used for safety checks only: making sure a real person is at the camera, and catching cameras pointed at things the other person never agreed to see. They are not shown to the person you were talking to and do not appear on your profile.

From purchases

Coins, VIP and other paid items are processed by third-party payment providers. We keep billing details and a record of each transaction so your balance can be credited and disputes can be checked. We do not store full card numbers.

The checkout may ask for an email address to send your receipt to. After a purchase you may also be invited to add and verify an email so your coins stay tied to you; verifying can come with bonus coins. An email you give us this way is stored with your account and is not shown to other users.

From notifications you allow

If you allow browser notifications, your browser gives us a push subscription for that device so we can send you messages and call alerts. You can withdraw it at any time in your browser's site settings; we will then stop sending to that device.

What we use it for

  • Running the service: matching you, connecting calls, delivering messages and processing purchases.
  • Personalising it: match suggestions, recommendations and the settings you prefer.
  • Talking to you: service notices, receipts and replies to support requests.
  • Safety: spotting fraud, abuse and breaches of the terms and community guidelines.
  • Fixing and improving the site from patterns in how it is used.
  • Meeting legal obligations and protecting users, the public and the service.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information. It leaves us only in these situations:

Service providers
Hosting, payments, analytics, content delivery and support tools, working for us under confidentiality obligations.
Google Analytics
Counts visits and page use so we can see what works. We may also receive aggregated or anonymised figures from analytics partners.
When you ask us to
If you tell us to pass something to someone, we do.
When the law requires it
A legal process or government request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of users, the public or the service.
A change of ownership
If the service is merged, acquired, reorganised or sold, information can move with it.
Aggregated figures
Numbers that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

Sites and services we link to run under their own privacy policies, not this one.

How long it is kept

Account information stays while your account is active. When an account is closed we delete or anonymise its personal data within a reasonable period, unless the law requires us to keep something. Still frames from safety checks are kept only while a safety review, a dispute or a legal duty needs them. Some payment and legal records have to be kept longer under tax and regulatory rules.

What you can ask for

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a machine-readable format, or limit how we process it. Marketing messages can be stopped from the unsubscribe link or your notification settings.

Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to confirm the request really comes from you before we act on it.

Under 18

cherrycam.live is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, or under the minimum age where they live, and we delete it as soon as we find out. If you think a minor has given us their details, tell us. The child safety page explains how.

Security and changes

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is controlled, and security is assessed regularly. No system on the internet is completely secure, so use a password you do not use anywhere else.

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. Significant changes are announced on the site or by email before they apply.
